These two medallions were designed by Pat A. Healy to be images especially for our day and age of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary .

The symbol in the composition framed by the words of pope St. Gregory the Great, is entirely formed by the words of Christ in the Gospel of St. Matthew,

"LEARN FROM ME."

 

The personal motto of Pope John Paul II frames a contemporary symbol of Our Lady which derives from earlier more traditional versions of the

Immaculate Heart of Mary

and the vision of the Miraculous Medal given to
St. Catherine Labouré.
