HEALYS' GRAPHIC ARK
is a contemporary ecumenical sacred art and craft design studio
located in Carver, Massachusetts .
For three decades we have served laity, clergy, and religious,
and we have remained dedicated to
restoring the vocation and ministry
of designer and maker of sacred images and symbols
to its rightful place in the church community.
We founded the Ark as a wife and husband team, and as
Oblates of St. Benedict
working in the spirit of
chapter 57 ("For Artists and Craftsmen")
of the Holy Rule of St. Benedict.
In this spirit, we have kept our studio small
in order to be able to maintain a commissioned-to-order service
to meet the needs of those who come, on a one-to-one basis,
as well as those who, in search of a sacred image or symbol
that is entirely original, designed and made by an artist/craftsperson, visit the gallery/store that we have added to our home.
We are particularly concerned to provide
sacred images and graphic symbols
to mark crucial events in the life of a Christian,
from birth announcements to memorial cards,
and to celebrate the feasts of the liturgical year, and of the Saints. We work in wood, glass, lucite, card, fabric, and natural stone.
What we do has ranged from the thirty-foot
CHRIST AND THE BEATITUDES
commissioned for the Diocese of St. Augustine
to ice-box magnets, Christmas cards, and tree ornaments.
We design images of a believable Christ,
Madonnas that speak to our time,
Old Testament figures, Angels, and Saints from 8" high, to
life-sized wall pieces.
We make well-designed and finely-crafted sacred images for
parish, home, office, hospital, school, and prison, and for any wall,
shelf, niche, window that can serve as a means for
broadcasting the Good News.
You are most welcome to visit our studio/workshop/gallery/home,
to see the work of our hands over the last thirty years,
and, we hope, to find somethng that we have done, or could do,
that would meet a need you have for a genuine
work of sacred art--whether large or small--
utterly different from the kitsch and schlock
that so often masquerades as such.
